[rec] 2 (2009)
This film picks up minutes after the first film. A chief and his squad pull into the building (one with a camera and the rest equipped with mini cameras). A ministry doctor also joins them. When they arrive in the building they go straight up the flight of stairs and find the apartment. The doctor instructs them to document everything.
A few minutes later they hear a scream, one of the officers gets attacked/bitten. As he turns to his fellow officers to attack them the doctor starts praying over him and he stops the attack. He places a crucifix on the door and we find out he’s a priest, and the virus is something bigger then just a human rabies disease.
One by one as they get picked off we see a group of kids lurking in the stairway. As the officers camera messes up we get to see how the kids ended up in the building and how they all connect.
The plot gets better as the movie goes on, the priest can speak to the possessed victims and he tries to find the main carrier. After a wild goose hunt he finds… Something.
Now you might be asking yourself is this sequel any good? Is it worth the watch? The answers, yes and fuck yes. This movie wasn’t just a great follow up film to [rec] but it was an awesome sequel, anything that wasn’t explained in the first one was explained in this one. If you haven’t seen this for whatever reason you have please wake up! Don’t sleep on this movie.
It’s fast paced, straight to the point, a very nice twist to what we thought was going on during the first part. The ending was awesome, and I didn’t see it coming personally (that’s what she said). Not saying this is a horror film that’s flawless, but I am saying that for a sequel it lives up to the first, and does a great job not dumbing anything down.
